Lovecraftian Fun

Simple but immersive game into the sublime world of Lovecraft. Gameplay mechanics are very intricate and the 30 minute sessions are never the same.

As fun as the dice game

Im a huge fan of fantasy flight and there arkham horror series of games and I love this app its great when I can get a game group together it is a fun option

DICE ROLLING GAME

this game has very little to no strategy, everything is dependent on rolling the right signs. Winning the "easy" level is impossible and I do not understand most of the special items.

Great game, but...

This game is well worth the price. Using the characters unique abilities intelligently is about the only way to win. That said, the dice rolls are often BS, which is somewhat frustrating. Theres bad luck, and then theres bad balancing. This occasionally falls into the latter category. Please fix! Id love to see Fantasy Flight adapt more games soon.

So unbalanced with the rolls

I have played 4 games (all finished in a losses) and only succeeded in a total of 3 mission. The rolls are just unrealistic bordering on unbelievable. Until I get an update I will probably stop playing because its no fun to just keep getting beat down. Challenge is one thing but this is ridiculous.

Baffling in how horrible

The dice are rolled. It is so silly not to have straight up statistical rolling. I assume they want tension - but it just makes it irritating ^10. Fix please

Almost

I have played this board game, and its awesome. When I read the reviews for this app, I assumed the people complaining about the rolls maybe just werent familiar with the difficulty level of FF games. However, after playing a few games I can confirm that the dice rolls are way too unbalanced. I have yet to win a game because the dice rolls are not chance, they are rolling straight up against you. Until that is fixed Im afraid I can only give this 3 stars, if they fix it this would be an amazing translation from a great board game to a great app.

Dice issues make it unplayable

I didnt think it was true at first, but the dice do seem unbalanced, and get worse the more players you add. It makes an otherwise great game into a frustrating exercise. Its a lot more fun to just play the board game on your own than this.

No win situation.

Nice attempt to bring the enjoyable (and winnable) board game to the mobile world. Sadly, the game is rigged against the player. There is no way of winning any scenario of this game. The dice (AI) is against you 110%. After dozens of playthroughs Ive yet to win even ONCE. Not worthy of the same name as the board game. Save your money.

Bad dice rolling ruins a good game

The dice rolls are just straight up unfair for large parts of the game. Please fix.

Buy a physical copy of the card game instead.

This version of the game is too difficult. Im playing on the easiest setting and I am unable to progress through the adventures while my team drops like flies.

I have had no problems - GREAT GAME

Going through these reviews, I have to wonder if the tutorial isnt quite clear enough. There are a few nuances, but if you can make some tough decisions, the game is certainly beatable. I beat all four of the starting Old Ones (Yig and Hastur on my first try), and Im on to Cthulhu. Its a dice game where you pick characters based on their perks, and beat challenges while accruing loot and sealing away the "big bad". Meanwhile, the "big bad" is throwing in monsters to make the challenges more difficult, and opening portals to other worlds. Some challenges need to be nipped in the bud before things get out of hand (especially the ones with "midnight effects"), and its YOUR job to manage the risk, bonuses, and livelihood of your party. You also get "trophy points" for beating these challenges, which can be used at the entrance to buy more bonuese, or recover health. It certainly not easy, but the game throws you bone often enough. With all due respect, seeing these other reviews saying "the dice are rigged" is beyond disappointing - the tutorial tells you what the odds on the dice (or "glyphs", whatever) are! If the odds are something other than what that tutorial claims, Id be shocked. Ive had plenty of fun, and challenges, with no issues.

Great Game

Played the card game and went to this. Love both immensely. There is definitely some strategic action needed when attempting adventures. If the a character ill equipped to perform the task tries they most likely fail. Sometimes, its even difficult to win when you have everything necessary. Good game and on the edge of your seat thriller.

Great Game that’s hampered by bad randomization

ES looks great, plays well enough, but is held back by some suspicious randomization. I sat down and played this game for about five hours and at first thought it was difficult, but then realized that I’d often fail to pull up markers that I needed, even with six markers I’d not get the one that I needed. It just feels a bit “off."

Fantastic

Hours and hours of fun. Compared to most games this is no ripoff!

Screw this game

Its rigged. I have played the easy setting 5 times and died each Time. Dont wast you time like me.

Great Game, High Difficulty

Hoping for more expansions

Great alternative

Great game and if you played the actual game. Youll actually know that you need to make use of everything that can help you get those trophies. Also the game is suppose to be hard.

Plays fairly quickly. A decent challenge.

Ive never played the board game, but might pick it up now that Ive played a few games. Played four games since downloading yesterday. Lost two, won two. One was the hardest one. Both wins were within a turn of losing. Ill likely buy the expansions if they go on sale. There is no credence to the rigged roll complaints at all. Most symbols have only a 1:6 chance of coming up on any glyph conjure (roll). If you need multiples of those glyphs, your unlikely to statistically get them unless youre using the abilities of the investigators to lock glyphs or re-roll a few times. Just read/watch the help menu. Attempt to play (and lose) a scenario and youll have a pretty good sense of the strategy of the game. Not as tight as some other cooperative games Ive played, but a decent level of challenge not regretting picking it up.

Its Okay, But Has Issues

For starters, I own and play the board game frequently and, unlike other games, namely Neuroshima Hex, this game is better on the table than a screen. The user interface is often confusing. Misclicks happen often with no way to undo them. There are too many cinematic transitions that arbitrarily lengthen game time. Theres a transistion in between basically anything that could possibly happen and anything after that. Its borderline ridiculous. The game is slightly different as in the board game you dont auto lose when the doom track fills up. Also, I really do feel this is harder than the board game. I only lose on the table about 25% of the time over many playthroughs both solo and teaching new people. Ive beaten this once. The discrepancy is too big for me to assume its just bad luck. If you dont want the physical version (which isnt that expensive) and just need to play this, its serviceable. But its not for me.
